Holy New Martyr Demetrios the Monk of Samarina in Pindos.
Saint Demetrios was a monk from Samarina in the Pindos mountains who preached to the villagers of Epirus. Suspected of stirring resistance, he was seized by the men of Ali Pasha and tortured to death in Ioannina in 1808.
He is honoured among the New Martyrs of Epirus.
