Holy Hieromartyr Myron, presbyter of Cyzicus.
St. Myron was a presbyter of Cyzicus in Asia Minor who lived in the middle of the third century. Tradition relates that when the governor Antipater burst into the church during the Nativity service, Myron rebuked him openly and was seized, tortured, and cast to wild beasts, which left him unharmed.
He was at length beheaded for his confession of Christ. The Church honors him as a hieromartyr and commemorates him on August 17. (The wonderworking Bishop Myron of Crete, famed for his kindness to thieves in his threshing floor, is kept on August 8.)
