Hieromartyr Ananias, Metropolitan of Lacedaemon, beheaded by the Turks in 1767.
Ananias Lampardis was Metropolitan of Lacedaemon in the Peloponnese in the eighteenth century, a hierarch of learning who cared for the education and welfare of his flock under Ottoman rule.
Accused of stirring his people against the Turks, he was seized and beheaded in 1767, and is honoured as a hieromartyr of the Church of Greece.
