Crescens of Myra

Holy Martyr Crescens of Myra in Lycia, burned for Christ.

Crescens was a Christian of noble family in Myra of Lycia who openly urged the pagans of the city to abandon their idols and believe in Christ. He was arrested by the prefect and refused every demand to sacrifice.

He was burned alive and received the crown of martyrdom in the third century.

On the New Calendar, Crescens of Myra is commemorated on April 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 28 of the civil calendar.
