Ananias, Peter and the Seven Soldiers

Holy Martyrs Ananias the Presbyter, Peter the jailer, and seven soldiers of Phoenicia.

St. Ananias was a priest in Phoenicia during the persecution of Diocletian. Brought before the governor, he refused to sacrifice; tradition relates that his jailer Peter and seven soldiers believed in Christ at the sight of his sufferings and were drowned in the sea with him.

They are commemorated on January 26.

On the New Calendar, Ananias, Peter and the Seven Soldiers is commemorated on January 26. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 8 of the civil calendar.
