Clement of Sagmata

Venerable Clement the Ascetic of Mount Sagmata in Boeotia.

St. Clement lived as an ascetic on Mount Sagmata in Boeotia, where the monastery of the Transfiguration was later established. Tradition relates that he lived on a pillar and drew disciples by his holiness; his relics are venerated at the monastery.

He is commemorated on January 26.

On the New Calendar, Clement of Sagmata is commemorated on January 26. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 8 of the civil calendar.
