Andrei Rublev

Venerable Andrei Rublev, the iconographer.

St. Andrei Rublev was a monk of the Holy Trinity Lavra and of the Andronikov Monastery in Moscow in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries, the greatest of the Russian iconographers. His icon of the Holy Trinity is honored as the model of Orthodox iconography.

He reposed around 1430 and is commemorated on January 29.

On the New Calendar, Andrei Rublev is commemorated on January 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 11 of the civil calendar.
