Seven Martyrs of Samosata

Holy Martyrs Romanos, James, Philotheos, Hyperechios, Abibos, Julian and Paregorios of Samosata.

Sts. Romanos, James, Philotheos, Hyperechios, Abibos, Julian and Paregorios were Christians of Samosata on the Euphrates who refused to take part in pagan sacrifices during the persecution of Maximian. After torture they were put to death by nails driven into their heads.

They are commemorated on January 29.

On the New Calendar, Seven Martyrs of Samosata is commemorated on January 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 11 of the civil calendar.
