Silvanos, Luke and Mokios

Hieromartyr Silvanos, Bishop of Emesa, with Luke the deacon and Mokios the reader.

St. Silvanos was Bishop of Emesa in Syria for forty years. In the persecution under Maximian he was arrested with his deacon Luke and the reader Mokios; after imprisonment the three were given to wild beasts in the amphitheater.

They are commemorated on January 29.

On the New Calendar, Silvanos, Luke and Mokios is commemorated on January 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 11 of the civil calendar.
