Sarbelos and Bebaia

Holy Martyrs Sarbelos and his sister Bebaia of Edessa.

St. Sarbelos was a pagan priest of Edessa who, together with his sister Bebaia, was converted to Christ by the bishop St. Barsimaios. In the persecution of Trajan the two confessed the faith and were put to death.

They are commemorated on January 29.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Sarbelos and Bebaia is commemorated on January 29. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 11 of the civil calendar.
