New Martyr Antonios of Athens, who suffered in Constantinople.
St. Antonios was born in Athens to poor parents and as a boy was put to work for Turkish masters, who sold him from one owner to another and pressed him to renounce his faith. He held fast to Christ through every hardship.
Later, working in Constantinople, he was falsely accused of having embraced and abandoned Islam, and after refusing to deny Christ he was beheaded in the eighteenth century.

On the New Calendar, Antonios the Athenian is commemorated on February 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 18 of the civil calendar.
