  Agatha

  Martyr, Αγάθη

  St. Agatha was a virgin martyr of Sicily who suffered for Christ during the persecution of Decius in the third century. Of noble birth, she consecrated herself to the Lord, and when she refused the advances of the pagan governor she was subjected to cruel tortures, which she endured with unshaken faith, dying in prison from her sufferings.

• Theodosios of Antioch

  Venerable, Θεοδόσιος ο εξ Αντιοχείας

  St. Theodosios came from a noble family of Antioch and left the world to live as a hermit on a mountain near Rhosos in Cilicia, wearing chains and working with his hands. Many disciples gathered around him and he founded a monastery.

• Polyeuktos of Constantinople

  Hierarch, Πολύευκτος Κωνσταντινουπόλεως

  St. Polyeuktos was a monk of Constantinople known for his learning and ascetic life who was raised to the patriarchal throne in the tenth century. He was fearless in rebuking emperors and firm in defending the canons of the Church.

• Antonios the Athenian

  Martyr, Αντώνιος ο Αθηναίος

  St. Antonios was born in Athens to poor parents and as a boy was put to work for Turkish masters, who sold him from one owner to another and pressed him to renounce his faith. He held fast to Christ through every hardship.

• Theodosios of Chernigov

  Hierarch, Θεοδόσιος Τσερνίγκωφ

  St. Theodosios was born in the seventeenth century to a noble family of Podolia and educated at the Kiev academy. He became a monk, served as abbot of several monasteries, and was consecrated Archbishop of Chernigov.
