Azes and the 150 soldiers

Holy Martyr Azes the Wonderworker of Isauria and the 150 soldiers martyred with him.

Saint Azes was a soldier of Isauria during the persecution of Diocletian who left the army to live in prayer and was known for working miracles. Arrested and brought to the governor, he was tortured for his faith.

Tradition relates that a hundred and fifty soldiers sent to guard him believed in Christ through his miracles and were martyred with him.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Azes and the 150 soldiers is commemorated on November 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 2 of the civil calendar.
