Holy Martyrs Justus, Chariton, Charito the virgin, Evelpistus, Hierax, Paeon and Liberian, who suffered at Rome with Justin the Philosopher.
The companions of Saint Justin the Philosopher were arrested with him in Rome under the prefect Rusticus during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. Among them was the virgin Charito and the layman Chariton, together with Evelpistus, Hierax, Paeon, Liberian and a second Justus.
The acts of their trial survive and show each confessing Christ simply and without fear. All were beheaded together, and the Church honours them on the same day as their teacher.
