Thespesios the Martyr

Holy Martyr Thespesios of Cappadocia, who suffered for Christ under Alexander Severus.

Saint Thespesios was a Christian of Cappadocia who confessed Christ before the governor during the reign of Alexander Severus in the third century. Tradition relates that he was subjected to various tortures and finally beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom.

On the New Calendar, Thespesios the Martyr is commemorated on June 1. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 14 of the civil calendar.
