Venerable Daniel, abbot of Pereslavl-Zalessky and founder of the Trinity Monastery there.
Daniel was born in Pereslavl-Zalessky in the fifteenth century and became a monk at the Borovsk monastery under a disciple of Saint Paphnutius. Returning to his native town, he made it his special labour to bury the unclaimed dead and to pray for them.
On the burial ground he founded the Trinity Monastery, of which he became abbot. He reposed in the sixteenth century and is venerated as a wonderworker.

On the New Calendar, Daniel of Pereslavl is commemorated on April 7. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 20 of the civil calendar.
