Venerable Gerasimos the Byzantine, Athonite ascetic and hymnographer.
Gerasimos came from Constantinople to Mount Athos, where he lived the ascetic life and composed hymns and services for the saints. He is remembered as a man of learning and prayer.
He reposed in peace on the Holy Mountain in the eighteenth century.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Gerasimos the Byzantine is commemorated on April 7. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 20 of the civil calendar.
