Rufinus, Aquilina and the 200 Soldiers of Sinope

Holy Martyrs Rufinus the Deacon, Aquilina and two hundred soldiers who believed through them, at Sinope.

Rufinus, a deacon, and Aquilina were imprisoned at Sinope on the Black Sea for their faith. Tradition relates that through their prayers and miracles two hundred soldiers of the garrison came to believe in Christ.

All were beheaded together in the persecution of the early fourth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Rufinus, Aquilina and the 200 Soldiers of Sinope is commemorated on April 7. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 20 of the civil calendar.
