Dometian of Melitene

St. Dometian, Bishop of Melitene in Armenia.

St. Dometian was Bishop of Melitene in Armenia in the sixth century, a kinsman of the Emperor Maurice. He governed his Church with wisdom and was sent on missions to Persia, where he helped many come to the faith.

He reposed in Constantinople and is commemorated on January 10.

On the New Calendar, Dometian of Melitene is commemorated on January 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 23 of the civil calendar.
