  Gregory of Nyssa

  St. Gregory of Nyssa was the younger brother of St. Basil the Great, born in Cappadocia in the fourth century to a family rich in saints. As Bishop of Nyssa he defended the Nicene faith against Arianism, endured exile for the truth, and took part in the Second Ecumenical Council in Constantinople in 381.

  St. Dometian was Bishop of Melitene in Armenia in the sixth century, a kinsman of the Emperor Maurice. He governed his Church with wisdom and was sent on missions to Persia, where he helped many come to the faith.

• Markianos the Presbyter

  Venerable, Μαρκιανός

  St. Markianos was a priest of Constantinople in the fifth century, born of a noble family, who spent his wealth on the poor and on the building of churches, among them the church of St. Anastasia. He was made steward of the Great Church.

• Theosebia the Deaconess

  Holy Woman, Θεοσεβία

  St. Theosebia was a sister of St. Basil the Great and St. Gregory of Nyssa, from the family of St. Emmelia and St. Makrina. She served the Church as a deaconess and was praised by St. Gregory the Theologian for her holiness.

  St. Antipas was born in Moldavia in 1816 and became a monk on Mount Athos, where he lived for years in the Romanian skete of the Forerunner. He later traveled to Russia and settled at the Valaam Monastery, where he lived in strict solitude and prayer.
