Holy Martyrs Eugenios, Candidus, Valerian and Aquila of Trebizond.

Sts. Eugenios, Candidus, Valerian and Aquila were Christians of Trebizond in the persecution of Diocletian. Tradition relates that Eugenios overthrew the idol of Mithras on the mountain above the city; the four were arrested, tortured, and beheaded.

St. Eugenios is the patron of Trebizond and is greatly honored by the Greeks of Pontus. They are commemorated on January 21.
