Zosimas of Syracuse

St. Zosimas, Bishop of Syracuse.

St. Zosimas was given by his parents to a monastery in Sicily as a child and grew up in the monastic life, later becoming abbot. In the seventh century he was made Bishop of Syracuse, where he cared for the poor and reposed in peace.

He is commemorated on January 21.

On the New Calendar, Zosimas of Syracuse is commemorated on January 21. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 3 of the civil calendar.
