Evangelos the Martyr

Holy Martyr Evangelos, bishop of Tomis, who died by the sword.

St. Evangelos is honored as an early bishop of Tomis on the Black Sea, in present-day Romania. Tradition relates that he preached the Gospel in the region and was beheaded for his confession of Christ in the third century.

He is commemorated as a martyr, and his day is kept by many who bear his name.
