  St. Thomas of Maloea was, according to tradition, a man of prominence and strength in the world who left all things to become a monk, taking up the life of prayer and ascetic struggle on Mount Maloea. There he lived in stillness, and God glorified his hidden labors with the grace of wonderworking.

• Kyriaki the Great Martyr

  Holy Woman, Κυριακή η Μεγαλομάρτυς

  St. Kyriaki was born in Nicomedia to Christian parents, Dorotheos and Eusebia, who had long prayed for a child; she was named for the Lord's Day on which she was born. Beautiful and devout, she refused marriage, dedicating herself to Christ, and was denounced during the persecution of Diocletian.

  St. Polykarpos the New is commemorated as a martyr who confessed Christ and suffered for the faith. He is called 'the New' to distinguish him from the great Hieromartyr Polycarp of Smyrna.

• Evangelos the Martyr

  St. Evangelos is honored as an early bishop of Tomis on the Black Sea, in present-day Romania. Tradition relates that he preached the Gospel in the region and was beheaded for his confession of Christ in the third century.
