Commemoration of the 165 Holy Fathers of the Fifth Ecumenical Council in Constantinople.
The Fifth Ecumenical Council met in Constantinople in 553 under Emperor Justinian and condemned the errors of Origen and the so-called Three Chapters, confirming the teaching of Chalcedon.
The Church honors its 165 Fathers as defenders of the Orthodox faith.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Fathers of the Fifth Ecumenical Council is commemorated on July 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 7 of the civil calendar.
