Gregory Kallidis

St. Gregory Kallidis, Metropolitan of Heraclea, hierarch of the twentieth century.

St. Gregory Kallidis was born in 1844 near Silivria and served as a hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, finally as Metropolitan of Heraclea in Thrace. He was known for his charity, his learning and his pastoral care.

He reposed in Thessaloniki in 1925 and was glorified in 2003.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Gregory Kallidis is commemorated on July 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 7 of the civil calendar.
