On this day the Church honours together the many ascetics whose relics rest in the Far Caves of the Kiev Caves Lavra, founded by Saint Theodosios in the eleventh century.
They are the spiritual fathers of Russian monasticism.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Fathers of the Kiev Caves is commemorated on August 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 10 of the civil calendar.
