Hezekiah the King

Righteous Hezekiah, King of Judah.

Hezekiah was king of Judah in the days of the Prophet Isaiah. He cleansed the Temple, destroyed the idols and trusted in God when Jerusalem was besieged by the Assyrians; the Scriptures relate that his prayer was heard and fifteen years were added to his life.

He is honoured among the righteous of the Old Testament.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Hezekiah the King is commemorated on August 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 10 of the civil calendar.
