George the New Martyr of Karatzasou

Holy New Martyr George, who suffered at Karatzasou in Asia Minor under the Ottomans.

George was a Christian of Asia Minor who was falsely accused by the Turks and pressed to accept Islam. Refusing to deny Christ, he endured beatings and imprisonment.

He was put to death at Karatzasou, and the Church honors him among the New Martyrs of the Turkish yoke.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, George the New Martyr of Karatzasou is commemorated on October 2. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 15 of the civil calendar.
