Glykerios the Farmer

Holy Martyr Glykerios the Farmer, who believed at the martyrdom of Saint George.

Glykerios was a poor farmer whose ox had died and who, tradition relates, was restored to prosperity through the prayer of the Great Martyr George in prison. He confessed Christ openly.

He was beheaded at Nicomedia at the beginning of the fourth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Glykerios the Farmer is commemorated on April 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 6 of the civil calendar.
