Venerable Gregory the Decapolite, ascetic and defender of the holy icons.
Saint Gregory was born in Irenopolis of the Isaurian Decapolis in the ninth century and became a monk, living as an ascetic in various places and travelling to Rome, Sicily and Thessaloniki. He preached against iconoclasm and was known for his miracles.
He reposed in Constantinople in 842. His relics are venerated at the Bistrita monastery in Romania.

On the New Calendar, Gregory the Decapolite is commemorated on November 20. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 3 of the civil calendar.
