Hieromartyrs Nerses the Bishop and Joseph his disciple, with many others martyred in Persia.
Saint Nerses was a bishop in Persia and Joseph his disciple, who was also a bishop. During the persecution of King Shapur II in the fourth century they were arrested with many clergy and laypeople for refusing to worship the sun.
They were beheaded, and the many men and women who suffered with them are commemorated on the same day.

On the New Calendar, Nerses and Joseph of Persia is commemorated on November 20. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 3 of the civil calendar.
