Isauros and companions

Holy Martyrs Isaurus and companions.

The Holy Martyr Isauros, a deacon, suffered for Christ in the early centuries of the Church together with a company of fellow believers. Refusing to deny the Lord, they strengthened one another in prison and went together to their deaths, sealing their confession with their blood.

The synaxaria preserve little more of their story, but the Church keeps their memory among the companies of martyrs who stood side by side in the hour of trial. They are commemorated on June 17.

On the New Calendar, Isauros and companions is commemorated on June 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 30 of the civil calendar.
