Holy Myrrhbearer Joanna, wife of Chuza the steward of Herod, who ministered to Christ and came to His tomb.
Saint Joanna was the wife of Chuza, the steward of Herod Antipas. The Gospel of Luke names her among the women who followed Christ and ministered to Him from their means, and among the myrrhbearers who found the tomb empty on the morning of the Resurrection.
Tradition relates that she recovered the head of Saint John the Baptist after his execution and buried it with honour on the Mount of Olives. Greek women named Ioanna keep their name day on this feast.
