Venerable Joseph the Sanctified, a monk of Crete whose relics rest in Zakynthos.
St. Joseph the Sanctified was born in Crete in the fifteenth century and became a monk near Heraklion, giving himself to prayer and charity. He reposed in 1511, and his incorrupt relics were later carried to Zakynthos, where they are venerated.
He is commemorated on January 22.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Joseph the Sanctified of Samaka is commemorated on January 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 4 of the civil calendar.
