  Timothy the Apostle

  Apostle, Τιμόθεος

  St. Timothy the Apostle was the beloved disciple and fellow worker of St. Paul, who called him his true child in the faith. A native of Lystra, born of a Greek father and a devout Jewish mother, he accompanied Paul on his journeys and received from him the two epistles that bear his name. He served as the first Bishop of Ephesus.

• Anastasios the Persian

  Martyr, Αναστάσιος ο Πέρσης

  St. Anastasios was a Persian soldier who, tradition relates, was drawn to Christ when the True Cross was carried to Persia after the sack of Jerusalem in 614. Baptized in Jerusalem, he became a monk; returning to Persia he was arrested, tortured, and strangled in 628.

• Martyrs of Bulgaria under Manuel and George

  Saint, Μανουήλ, Γεώργιος, Πέτρος και Λέων

  In the ninth century, during the wars between Byzantium and the Bulgarian khan Krum and his successors, the bishops Manuel of Adrianople, George of Develtos, Peter and Leo, together with clergy, soldiers and a great multitude of Christian captives numbering 377, were put to death for refusing to deny Christ.

• Joseph the Sanctified of Samaka

  Venerable, Ιωσήφ ο Σαμάκος

  St. Joseph the Sanctified was born in Crete in the fifteenth century and became a monk near Heraklion, giving himself to prayer and charity. He reposed in 1511, and his incorrupt relics were later carried to Zakynthos, where they are venerated.

• Vissarion of Agathonos

  Venerable, Βησσαρίων Κορκολιάκος

  St. Vissarion Korkoliakos was a monk of the Agathonos Monastery near Ypati in central Greece in the twentieth century, known for his simplicity, prayer, and charity to the poor. He reposed in 1991, and his relics were found incorrupt.
