Justus the Martyr

Holy Martyr Justus, a Roman soldier who confessed Christ.

St. Justus was a soldier at Rome who, according to tradition, saw a vision of the Cross and came to believe in Christ. He gave his possessions to the poor and openly confessed his faith.

He was tortured and burned, and received the crown of martyrdom.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Justus the Martyr is commemorated on July 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 27 of the civil calendar.
