Kyrillos of Thessaloniki

New Monastic Martyr Kyrillos, who suffered in Thessaloniki.

St. Kyrillos was a monk from Thessaloniki who confessed Christ before the Ottoman authorities. Tradition relates that he was burned alive in Thessaloniki in the sixteenth century.

He is honored among the New Martyrs of the Ottoman period.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Kyrillos of Thessaloniki is commemorated on July 6. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 19 of the civil calendar.
