Lucia the Virgin Martyr and those with her

Holy Virgin Martyr Lucia of Campania, with Rixos the vicar and many others.

St. Lucia was a virgin from Campania in Italy who was taken captive and brought before the vicar Rixos. Tradition relates that he was so moved by her faith and austere life that he himself became a Christian.

Lucia, Rixos and many others were martyred together at Rome.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Lucia the Virgin Martyr and those with her is commemorated on July 6. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 19 of the civil calendar.
