Righteous Lazarus the Four-Days-Dead, friend of Christ and Bishop of Kition.
The righteous Lazarus of Bethany, brother of Martha and Mary, was raised from the dead by the Lord four days after his burial, as the Gospel of John relates. Tradition holds that he later fled the persecution of the Jews and came to Cyprus, where he was made Bishop of Kition by the Apostles and lived for thirty more years.
His relics were translated to Constantinople in the ninth century. Besides Lazarus Saturday before Palm Sunday, the Church keeps his memory on March 17 and October 17.

On the New Calendar, Lazarus the Friend of Christ is commemorated on March 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 30 of the civil calendar.
