Lucian of the Kiev Caves

Holy Hieromartyr Lucian the Presbyter of the Kiev Caves, slain in the Tatar invasion.

Lucian was a hieromonk of the Kiev Caves Lavra who was martyred during the invasion of Batu Khan around 1243.

His relics rest in the Far Caves of Saint Theodosios, and he is commemorated with the fathers of the Kiev Caves.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Lucian of the Kiev Caves is commemorated on October 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 28 of the civil calendar.
