  Lucian of Antioch

  Martyr, Λουκιανός

  St. Lucian was a priest of Antioch, renowned as a scholar of the Holy Scriptures, who labored over the sacred text and taught many disciples in the school of Antioch. During the persecution at the beginning of the fourth century he was arrested and taken to Nicomedia, where after a bold defense of the faith he died in prison for Christ around the year 312.

• Euthymios the New of Thessalonica

  Born Niketas in Galatia in the ninth century, he left his wife and daughter to become a monk on Mount Olympus in Bithynia, and afterward one of the first great ascetics of Mount Athos, living for a time on a pillar near Thessalonica.

  Lucian was a hieromonk of the Kiev Caves Lavra who was martyred during the invasion of Batu Khan around 1243.

• Dionysios of Suzdal

  Hierarch, Διονύσιος Σουζδαλίας

  Dionysios, born near Kiev, founded the Ascension Caves monastery at Nizhny Novgorod and was made Bishop of Suzdal in 1374. He was a friend of Saint Sergius of Radonezh and a zealous opponent of the Strigolnik heresy.
