Savinos of Catania

Saint Savinos, Bishop of Catania in Sicily.

Savinos was chosen Bishop of Catania, but after a short time he withdrew secretly to the wilderness to live in asceticism and prayer.

Tradition relates that he received the gifts of healing and discernment and reposed in peace, being honored among the venerable hierarchs.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Savinos of Catania is commemorated on October 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 28 of the civil calendar.
