Mavrikios the Martyr

Holy Martyr Mavrikios, who suffered for Christ.

St. Mavrikios (Maurice) is commemorated on this day as a martyr who confessed Christ before the pagan authorities and endured torments rather than deny his faith.

The Synaxarion preserves his name and his martyric end; tradition relates that he was put to death for his confession.
