Twenty-Five Martyrs of Nicomedia

The Holy Twenty-Five Martyrs who suffered by fire in Nicomedia.

The Twenty-Five Martyrs of Nicomedia were Christians who refused to sacrifice to idols during the persecutions of the early Church. Tradition relates that they were burned alive for their confession of Christ.

They are commemorated together as a company of confessors who preferred death to apostasy.

On the New Calendar, Twenty-Five Martyrs of Nicomedia is commemorated on July 1. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 14 of the civil calendar.
