Holy New Martyrs Angelis, Manuel, George and Nicholas of Melambes in Crete, beheaded at Rethymno in 1824.
Angelis, Manuel, George and Nicholas were Christians of the village of Melambes in Crete who had been forced to profess Islam outwardly. In 1824, during the Cretan uprising, they openly returned to the faith of Christ.
Seized by the Turks, they refused to deny Him and were beheaded at Rethymno, receiving the crown of martyrdom.
