Feast of the Holy Protection of the Theotokos as kept in Greece on the anniversary of the OXI of 1940.
The Church of Greece in 1952 transferred the feast of the Protection of the Theotokos from October 1 to October 28, joining it to the national anniversary of the refusal of the Italian ultimatum in 1940, in thanksgiving for the protection of the Mother of God during the war.
The feast recalls the vision of Saint Andrew the Fool at Blachernae, who saw the Theotokos spreading her veil over the praying people.

On the New Calendar, Protection of the Theotokos (Greek Observance) is commemorated on October 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 10 of the civil calendar.
