Venerable Nicholas Sviatosha, Prince of Chernigov, monk of the Kiev Caves.
Nicholas, great-grandson of Yaroslav the Wise and Prince of Lutsk, left his wife, children and principality in 1106 to become a monk of the Kiev Caves, the first Russian prince to do so.
He served humbly in the kitchen and as gatekeeper, planted the monastery garden, and founded a hospital. He reposed in 1143 and is venerated as a wonderworker.
