Holy Hieromartyr Silvanos of Gaza, beheaded in the copper mines of Palestine.
Silvanos was a soldier who left the army to become a priest at Gaza and was later made a bishop. In the persecution of Diocletian and Maximian he was condemned to labor in the copper mines of Phaeno.
There, in old age, he was beheaded with forty companions around 311, receiving the crown of martyrdom.
