Venerable Nikanor the Wonderworker, founder of the Monastery of Zavorda on Mount Kallistratos.
Saint Nikanor was born in Thessaloniki in the fifteenth century and, after distributing his wealth to the poor, embraced the monastic life. He founded the Monastery of the Transfiguration at Zavorda on Mount Kallistratos in western Macedonia.
He is greatly venerated in Macedonia, where his relics are kept, and is known as a wonderworker.
